To help you out, we’ve shared a few of our very favorite recipes below. From sangria to mulled wine, we have a recipe for everyone’s taste buds! If you’re looking for something new this year, try one of these yummy holiday wine-based drinks:

Holiday Sangria

  • One-quart sealable container, 2 bottles dry red wine (Rioja is the most popular), 2 oranges, one juiced and one diced, 1 apple cubed or sliced, 1 lemon sliced or juiced, 1 cinnamon stick, optional sweetener such as simple syrup or maple syrup, optional fizziness: lemon-lime soda, ginger ale, or sparkling water are all options. Combine and voila!

New York Sour

  • Two ounces of bourbon whiskey, 1 ounce of lemon juice, ½ ounce of sweetener such as maple syrup or simple syrup, 1 ounce dry red wine, and optional garnish such as a lemon twist.

In a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine all of the ingredients except the wine. Then close tightly and shake until thoroughly chilled, at least 20 seconds. Pour into 4 glasses over cracked ice, then top up with red wine to fill each glass about three-quarters full (about 1 ounce per glass). As much as possible, use the highest quality ingredients

Mulled Wine

  • 1 bottle of dry red wine, 1/4 cup brandy (or orange liqueur), 1 orange, slices cut into rounds (if you want a less-bitter drink, peel it first), 8 whole cloves, 2 cinnamon sticks, 2 star anises, 2 to 4 tablespoons sugar, honey, or maple syrup to taste (or your preferred sweetener), optional garnish: citrus fruit.

Slowly heat the wine, brandy, orange, cloves, cinnamon, in a sauce pan. Add the sugar and stir until it dissolves. When the mixture is hot enough for you to be able to dip your finger in it without burning, turn off the heat. Place pot of mulled wine on a safe surface away from open flames of any kind. Add ruby port or sweet red wine if desired. Ladle into mugs and serve!
